Presbyterian led for most of the time that didn’t matter on Saturday at Bailey Memorial Stadium.
The Blue Hose, in a key Pioneer Football League game at Bailey Memorial Stadium on Saturday, were either ahead or tied for 59 minutes, 28 seconds. In other words, Stetson edged Presbyterian, 28-24, on a one-yard touchdown plunge by Devon Brewer with 32 seconds left.
The Hatters got two Brewer scores in the final 10:44, overcoming a 10-point PC lead. He was the game’s leading rusher with 99 yards in 25 carries. None was for more than 10 yards.
Ty Englehart started at quarterback for PC instead of Tyler Wesley, and the son of head coach Steve Englehart performed well, completing 18/24 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns, the former to Terik Mulder and the latter to Worth Warner, who caught six passes for 73 yards.
Englehart landed 19 of his first 21 tosses. The other two were intercepted.
Wesley, who suffered a foot injury against Butler, threw only one pass, an incompletion, on the final play of the game.
Presbyterian (2-3, 0-2 PFL) put up two first-quarter touchdowns and led by 10 in the fourth quarter after Englehart found Warner for a three-yard strike with 13:42 to play. Stetson (3-3, 1-2) defeated the Blue Hose for the third straight year, which is not as noteworthy as it would be if PC had not fallen to every other PFL opponent in that span.
The Hatters outrushed the Blue Hose, 159-118. The primary Stetson passer, Brady Meitz, completed 10/17 for 186 yards. Understudy Matt O’Connor was 0/5 with an interception.
Zach Switzer led the 118-yard Blue Hose rushing effort with 43 yards in nine carries. Jaden Wright gained 27 yards on the ground, and Englehart, who was sacked five times, netted 22 and scored a touchdown.
As usual, junior linebacker Alex Herriott led the Blue Hose with nine tackles. Andrew Martin and Rassie Littlejohn each had 10 for the Hatters.

Stetson was able to come from behind in spite of failing on fourth down twice in the second half. The Hatters marched 80 yards on the winning drive after gaining possession with 2:51 remaining.
Jaydn Harris-Ervin set up PC’s second touchdown with a 29-yard interception return to the one-yard line.
The loss was Presbyterian’s 18th in a row in league play. The Blue Hose’ next shot is at Dayton (Ohio) next Saturday. The Flyers fell, 31-7, to Morehead (Ky.) State and to 0-3 in the PFL.
