Senior defensive and tight end Aumar Robinson, naturally from Clinton High School since the Red Devils are still playing, is the Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week.

Robinson’s performance was emblematic of a great Clinton showing in a 38-7 victory over Broome, which entered the second-round, Class 3A playoff game averaging 40 points per game.

Robinson made 5-1/2 tackles, three of them for losses, with three quarterback sacks and two hurries.

“Aumar was our leading Devil defensive player Friday night,” head coach Corey Fountain said. ‘He has matured as a person and a player.  Aumar has worked tremendously hard in the weight room and on the practice field to become a starter on defense.

“He spent every day on the scout team the past three years trying to wreak havoc on the starting offense. I’m sure at times he may have gotten frustrated, but he kept coming to practice giving everything he had to give every day. It has been awesome to see him transition into the starting rotation this year.”

The Nov. 16 meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens. Player of the Week awards are presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.

This week is the Clemson at South Carolina preview with Patrick DiMarco representing the Gamecocks and former Clemson player and current assistant coach Danny Pearson the Tigers.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 a.m.

Many people have said they intended to make a contribution to keep the site alive. I reckon they just don’t get around to it. I always list an address to send a check. I finally got it through my thick head that not that many people write checks nowadays. For example, me. A more convenient means might be sending a reasonable amount to DHK Sports on Venmo.

Another way I can make a little is if you purchase my books at MonteDutton.net. They’re quite entertaining in spite of the fellow who wrote them. Two of my novels, Cowboys Come Home and Lightning in a Bottle, are available in audio versions. The latest, The Latter Days, is about baseball.
