Presbyterian College continued to pick up momentum, capturing its third women’s basketball victory in a row, 76-58 over North Carolina Central in a Wednesday matinee at Templeton Center.

Tilda Sjokvist led the Blue Hose with 21 points. Bryanna Brady added 15 and Nuria Cunill 10.

“[I’m] really happy to get the win,” head coach Alaura Sharp stated. “I thought we shot it really well from three [and] we shot it really well from the field. We adjusted well defensively in the second half to keep them off the free-throw line. I think we’re playing with some confidence and that makes me really excited.”

Presbyterian (5-3) won the opening tip and most everything else, highlighted by wide margins in the first (27-14) and third (22-13) quarters.

PC led by as many as 27 points in the fourth quarter. The Blue Hose scored only two points in the final 4:20 of the game.

Sjokvist shot .571 (8/14) from the floor overall and .556 (.559) from beyond the arc. Brady hit 7/10 shots and led PC with seven rebounds. Sjokvist had six assists, and Ashley Carrillo added five. The Blue Hose outrebounded North Carolina Central (3-4), 49-34.

Morgan Callahan led the Eagles with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Kyla Bryant added 14 points.

The Blue Hose begin their December schedule with two road games, first against the Western Carolina Catamounts on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Cullowhee, N.C.

Thanks so much for the recent contributions. Advertisers and contributors keep the site in business.

I used to list an address to send a check (DHK Sports, P.O. Box 768, Clinton, S.C. 29325). I finally got it through my thick head that not that many people write checks nowadays. For example, me. A more convenient means might be sending a reasonable amount to DHK Sports on Venmo.

Another way I can make a little is if you purchase my books at MonteDutton.net. They’re quite entertaining in spite of the fellow who wrote them. Two of my novels, Cowboys Come Home and Lightning in a Bottle, are available in audio versions. The latest, The Latter Days, is about baseball.
