Not since 2021, the Year of Kevin Kelley Coaching Dangerously, has Presbyterian College dominated a football game so thoroughly.
The Blue Hose doused any hints of fire from a band of traveling Dragons. Presbyterian demolished Virginia of Lynchburg, 52-0, at Bailey Memorial Stadum on Saturday afternoon.
Here’s a modest prediction. Steve Englehart’s third edition isn’t headed to the South Pole.

Kelley opened one of college football’s wackier seasons with victories of 80-43 over Saint Andrews of Laurinburg, N.C., and 68-3 over newly formed Fort Lauderdale (Fla.), then never helmed another win.
I still can’t believe it happened. Oh, the stories I still tell.
Presbyterian (2-1) outgained the low-octane Dragons by 370 yards and secured their first shutout since 2018. The Blue Hose won their fifth straight home opener, though, in fairness, the opposition hasn’t been the best.
Altogether, the Blue Hose amassed 448 yards of total offense. They averaged seven yards per play, scoring either a touchdown or a field goal on six of eight first-half drives.
Five different quarterbacks saw action for PC.
Dominic Kibby erupted with seven receptions for 155 yards. Tight end Nathan Levicki caught two for touchdowns.

Presbyterian’s defense combined for five sacks and 11 tackles for loss. Raymond McCray ditched the VUL quarterback twice.
Levicki, Antonio Wright and Jayden Pressey were three who scored their first career touchdowns, and red-shirt junior quarterback Warner Bush threw his first touchdown pass.
Presbyterian waltzed to a 38-0 advantage after two quarters. Senior running back Zach Switzer rushed in the first touchdown. Then Mack Mikko kicked a 33-yard field goal.

Quarterback Ty Englehart, returning from injury, set up the next score with a 29-yard hookup with Kibby. Three plays later, he threw a five-yard score to Levicki.
Virginia of Lynchburg (0-3) punted on seven straight possessions in the first half.
Collin Hurst, 2-0 as the starter behind center, scored on a one-yard rush.

The Blue Hose marched 91 yards for the sixth touchdown, a 47-yard dart to Kibby in the third quarter.

Thirteen different players rushed. Four passed. Six caught. Twenty-four made tackles. Neither team committed a turnover.
VUL starter Matthew Jinks found his receivers 14 times in 35 attempts for 81 yards. Ryan Sims caught 10 of them for 50 yards. The Dragons’ leading rusher was Jacob Newman with 30 yards. As a team, VUL netted 33 less. Eighteen carries, minus-three yards, average loss 0.2.
The next two games, both at home, might be rough and definitely tougher. Gardner-Webb and Davidson are both to face the Blue Hose on the next two Saturdays at 7 p.m.
