The election is in less than a week.
That’s all I know. Or maybe I know too much.
At this point, the only surprise is that there aren’t commercials with ex-candidates offering deals on how to bet. Take the under on Trump in Massachusetts.
Crapshoot! Dot.com. (Disclaimer: I made that up.)

I wish I had a nickel for every TV guy and gal who’s used the word “tossup.” I’m astonished they don’t go live from midfield.
If only I knew what Harris’s OBP+ was. The stats should be at the bottom of the screen every time they bat. The strike zone ought to be overlapped on the screen.
Just … a bit outside.

The Dayton Flyers are undoubtedly casting a wary eye toward Bailey Memorial Stadium, where they have a lot riding on Saturday’s 1 p.m. Pioneer Football League game against Presbyterian.
The Blue Hose occupy a dangerous spoiler’s role in the aftermath of their 42-14 victory at Stetson.
Presbyterian (3-6, 1-4) is no title threat, but all its PFL games have been competitive except for the most recent, which it won.

Dayton (5-2, 3-1) is a game behind Drake (5-1, 4-0) and Saint Thomas (5-3, 4-0), tied with Morehead State (5-3, 3-1) and a half game ahead of Davidson (5-3, 3-2).
Last week, in Dayton, Morehead State, which defeated PC, 14-7, defeated the Flyers, 14-6. Dayton quarterback Drew VanVleet completed 12/27 passes for 91 yards.

Laurens’ final two opponents, Emerald and Fountain Inn, played each other last week. The Fury won, 34-31, leaving Emerald (4-4), Fountain Inn (5-3) and Laurens (1-7) all 1-2 in Region 1-4A.
Two of the three make the playoffs. One, and Southside (0-8, 0-3), does not (unless a miracle happens).
Far atop the region are Westside (7-0, 3-0) and Wren (6-1, 3-0), which face each other in Anderson.

The final week, Nov. 8, matches Fountain Inn at Laurens, Wren at Emerald and Southside at Westside.
Making the tournament is big for the Presbyterian College women’s soccer team, which qualified for Big South postseason play for the third time ever and first since 2019.

The Blue Hose and first-year head coach Matt Smith are the No. 5 seed. They visit fourth seed Longwood in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The opening-round matches are held at the site of the higher seed. Then the semifinals and title contest are at a neutral site (Matthews, N.C.).
PC has never won a postseason match since joining Division I in 2007.
The Blue Hose and Lancers played to a scoreless tie on Oct. 19.

Clinton won big on the road, defeating Chester, 5-1, in girls’ tennis.
The Red Devils return home to take on Dixie on Thursday at 5 p.m., in the Class 2A playoff opener.

Highs and lows are inevitable because all the games have a loser and a winner, and when it’s done, they are the same number.
