You might win big if a player from the other team, Antwon Corbin, warms up in a NASCAR tee shirt. It’s also a good sign when it looks as if the men’s basketball foe might practice in the same uniforms it wears in the game.
Carolina Christian College, a member of the National Christian Colleges Association – that’s NCCA, not NCAA — put up only token opposition in the Presbyterian men’s basketball home opener, and the Blue Hose stormed to victory, 120-45, at Templeton Center on Wednesday night. The Centurions hail from Winston-Salem, N.C.

Presbyterian (1-1) didn’t put up a cool 75 points; it won by 75.
Six scored in double figures, and PC’s 120 points set a program Division I-era record. The Blue Hose made 43 field goals, second most all-Division-I-time (since 2007).
All 12 Presbyterian players who saw action scored at least two points and grabbed at least one rebound.
Kobe Stewart led the Blue Hose with 19 points on 7/11 shooting from the field. Jonah Pierce scored 17 points. Iverson King recorded his first career double-digit scoring game with 14 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Kory Mincy had his second straight double-double with 11 points and 10 assists. Jamahri Harvey and Carl Parrish scored 11.

Presbyterian scored 60 points in the paint and 54 off the bench. Presbyterian exploded for 73 second-half points while limiting Carolina Christian (0-5) to 17 points and .179 shooting.
After going 5/5 from the field, Pierce is 16-/16 from the field for the season.
Cam Miller led the Centurions with 14 points and was 6/8 from the floor. The rest of the team was a combined 11/52. Dyshun Smith scored seven points; he was 3/20.
The Blue Hose travel to Raleigh to play ACC foe North Carolina State on Friday at 7 p.m.
Take a look at the stats here.

Presbyterian senior forward Damorney Hutchinson is the Big South Offensive Player of the Year, joining three others on the Big South all-conference team in men’s soccer.
Hutchinson and senior midfielder Carson Griffith were First Team selections. Junior midfielder Steven Cordova was Second Team. Freshman midfielder Morgan Dance was an Honorable Mention and All-Freshman honoree. For the second consecutive season, Griffith was on the Big South All-Academic team.
Presbyterian’s four All-Big South selections have played an integral role on a Blue Hose attack that ranks 10th in the NCAA in points per game at 6.93 (32 goals, 33 assists, 97 points).

Hutchinson became the first player in the program’s history to be named top offensive player. Griffith and Hutchinson join former Blue Hose Cesar Sancho (2019, 2021) as two-time first-team selections. Griffith is one of three players in the program’s history to earn All-Big South accolades three times. Sancho (2019-21) and Luca Ziegler (2018-20) were the other two.
Second-half goals from Sandro Rabarivony and Hutchinson enabled Presbyterian (6-7-2) to come from behind to defeat Winthrop (5-12-1), 2-1, on the road in the Big South Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday night in Rock Hill.

The sixth-seeded Blue Hose play second-seeded Gardner-Webb in the semifinals on Sunday at 6 p.m.
“Winthrop made some adjustments from our game this past Saturday,” Presbyterian coach Nick Finotti said. “It took us a little bit to adjust to those changes. Once we did, we were very good. In the second half, we created a lot of good scoring chances. I am super proud of our guys.”

In the seventh minute, Winthrop took an early lead behind a goal from Ethan Marks off a Borris Nguelle assist.
Presbyterian tied the score in the 67th minute when Hutchinson began the scoring play with a well-timed pass to Morgan Dance streaking down the left side of the field. Dance passed the ball to the center of the box to Rabarivony, who tapped the ball into the back of the net from eight yards out after a great run.

Less than two minutes later the Blue Hose took the lead for good. In the 68th minute, Jonas Sundli-Hardig got the ball just inside the box and passed to Damian McGregor-Wickham on the right side of the box. McGregor-Wickham crossed the ball to Hutchinson at the far post. Hutchinson blasted the ball into the upper-right corner of the net.
Presbyterian finished the game with a 13-12 advantage, 7-2 in the second half.
Blue Hose goalkeeper Loan Marin recorded three saves.
