County Signs: I try to be unaffected by commercials

Considerable evidence exists that I watch too much TV.
I mention commercials that I’ve seen approximately a hundred times that others seem to have never seen.
My knowledge is broad-based. They are gleaned from major-college football games, minor-college football games and reruns of Perry Mason.
How can there possibly be so much unclaimed furniture?
I’m thinking about moving to Fanville.
In the unlikely event that I demand my doctor to provide me medication I learned about in a commercial, I couldn’t possibly tell him what its name is.

The final Player of the Week for the Laurens County Touchdown Club this year is Clinton High junior Jaydon Glenn.
The reason Glenn is the season’s last honoree is that the Red Devils had to reach the state Class 2A championship game to make the season last this long.
A junior defensive end, Glenn had four tackles, two for loss, four quarterback pressures and two sacks as Clinton won its ninth state championship, 35-6, over Barnwell at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium in Orangeburg last Thursday afternoon.

It had been 15 years since Clinton won the 2009 3A championship over Myrtle Beach.
“Jaydon has been an unselfish player all year. During region play, he was moved to defensive end and never looked back,” stated head coach Corey Fountain. “He has worked tremendously hard and has been a great asset on the defensive line throughout region play and the playoffs. His pressure on the quarterback during the state championship kept one of their best players uncomfortable all game. I’m proud of Jaydon and look forward to seeing his continued success.”
Glenn is to be honored on Jan. 8 when the TD Club holds its annual banquet at The Ridge in Laurens.

Player of the Week awards are presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.
The featured speaker for the Awards Banquet is former Clemson standout Brian Mance. The TD Club will recognize its All-County team as well as Coach of the Year, Player of the Year and the Lakeland’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes Character award winners from each high school, as well as Presbyterian College.
Tickets can be purchased at the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce in advance for $20.

Times are changing. I am aware of how irrelevant what I do for a living has become and thus how unimportant my efforts are. The readers appreciate them, but there aren’t enough of them. I doubt there ever will be again.
It’s what I do. It’s what I know.

In the off chance you’d like to read my novels and other books, they’re available on Amazon and many prominent bookseller sites.

You can read them on your phones and other devices for a modest cost. I make a bit more if you purchase the actual books, but what I mainly want is for folks to read them.
The most researched of my novels is Cowboys Come Home, set at the end of World War II when two Texans come home from the Pacific and find the world has changed back home, too.
