By MONTE DUTTON (Elena Davidson photos) https://dunesproperties.com/agent/mark-mitchell/ Furman football has been ranked as high as fifth in various preseason forecasts of the Football Championship Subdivision, which is why people just say FCS whether or not they know what it is. I’ve never seen the need to suppress I-AA. The Paladins finished 10th last season, and …

By MONTE DUTTON (Monte Dutton photos) There's an old baseball movie called It Happens Every Spring. https://www.scfbins.com/agents/buddybridges It happens every fall, too. They expected to win. https://www.facebook.com/UpstateInsuranceConsultants Dick Sheridan died in …

Completely independent of my thoughts, athletics director Jason Donnelly arrived at the same conclusion. I don’t know Curtis – I’ve exchanged pleasantries, perhaps even …

By MONTE DUTTON (Elena Davidson photos) Last season was fantastic. Seldom, if ever, has Furman been better at football and men’s basketball at the same time. As no less an observer than Ronnie Milsap (who is blind) sang, I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. It’s amazing such a small area of real estate …

Riley Ludlam is the SoCon softball Player of the Year. The runners win far and wide. Men’s basketball signed a 6-10 recruit out of Woodbridge, Va., …
Clinton, South Carolina, Thursday, January 30, 2020, 2:06 p.m. Bill Hogan had the same approach to broadcasting that I applied to scoring baseball games. I always tried to play it straight and be fair to both teams, not just the home one. Because I saw that team every night, I figured I would be slightly …
